Publishing and distributing music is easier now than ever before, with sites like SoundCloud, YouTube, and even apps like Indie Shuffle serving as artists' gateways to their audience. Any given day potential listeners can simply log on and find new music to suit their diverse tastes, from whatever corner of the world the artist may hail from. With all the options right on our computers or phones or tablets or from wherever we access the Internet from, it's hard to really filter through the handful of good artists from the rest of the guitar-wielding crowd seeking their 15 seconds of fame.
This is the void which Musikamanila wishes to fill. This blog wishes to highlight remarkable musicians, especially local artists, from the throngs of wannabe rockstars. Rather than simply posting links, this blog would give much-needed attention to artists you should be listening to, and why.
About Me
Allow me to introduce myself. I am Jeff Salvado. I have written for high school and college publications, have finished a degree in Advertising Management, have written advertising copy for a little while and have been writing freelance for newspapers and magazines for four years. Writing, however, is not my passion, rather, a practical hobby I can make a little money off of. Music is what makes my blood pump faster. And while I may have chosen a different field of study for practical reasons, it is my personal mission to continue giving tribute to my one and only first love. I listen to everything from Mozart to Jay-Z to The Arctic Monkeys, but I find true enjoyment in discovering local artists who continue to innovate and cannot be readily categorized into pre-existing genres like Up Dharma Down, Salindiwa, Sound, or The Out of Body Special.
I have mostly kept these discoveries to myself, but the time has come to finally share them through Musikamanila. Join me as I traverse both the virtual and physical world in search of truly eargasmic music.
